Synopsis

You step into the cavern where your mother, your father, your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, everyone has performed the ceremony before.

You realize that although you know the incantation you need to summon a familiar, you never did learn the steps needed to actually carry out the ritual.

Damn. You look over your shoulder back at the entrance of the cavern, and briefly consider going back to ask for help, then shake your head at the idea. You're thirteen. You can handle it. God, how hard can it be? Just wing it.

Then you remember uncle Steve's familiar, and think again.
