The SAM Adventure System (SAS) was written by Colin Jordan of Axxent Software for the SAM Coupe machines. Colin also developed the Worldscape system that he used for his own games (the Inspector Flukeit games & Five on a Treasure Island).
It cost £30 back in 1992 and featured 85/64/42/32 column modes, 40-60% text compression, up to 710K sized adventures (780K with extra memory installed), integrated compressed graphics, and external calls to BASIC or m/c routines.
