The ZX Spectrum version was published by the author as early as 1985. It made an appearance on the four-game H&D Adventure Compilation in 1986, and was re-released several times including by GI Games & Zenobi Software.
The Commodore 64 port of the game was published by Atlas.
In 1989, a heavily edited version of the Spectrum Quilled game was included on an illegal, pirate four-game compilation cassette. This version appears in archives as Doom Castle by The PResS Adventure.

As is the norm with Pooley's games, the original version is rough and unpolished. This one has more things to do than others from the author, without being difficult either, but lacks atmosphere and feels a bit aseptic.
