Hallowe'en: Night of the Misty Manor, version 0.1.0 By Dee Cooke For web browser Solution by Garry Francis ---------------------------------------- This is a minimal solution to a very large game. You'll need to EXAMINE lots of things for this solution to make sense. A few optional (but significant) commands are shown in parentheses. These can be omitted once you know what to do. The game can be divided into three parts: preparations for the party, entertaining the old folk and after the car breaks down. You cannot return to the previous parts, so I'd suggest saving the game at the points indicated in the solution in case you've forgotten something. There are five different paths through the game, depending on which mask you choose at the sitting room in part 1 (none, troll, masquerade, axeman or voodoo). You can only carry one mask at a time. Once you use the mask at the well-lit room, this affects your path through the area past the well-lit room, the characters you meet, the objects you need to get past these characters and the type of poem you need at the end of the game. I have noted the differences in the solution. Pick one and stick with it. You can't mix and match. You can play the game five times to try all the solutions. There is no SCORE command, there is no score in the status bar, there is no sign of the score being updated during the game, yet you get a score at the end of the game and have no idea how the points were allocated. You might get a score like 148/200 and not know why. The author sent me a walkthrough, which included a breakdown of how the score is worked out, but it is so complicated that I thought it was better to ignore it. The solution does not attempt to get the full score. In fact, I think it may be impossible to get the full score because of some very obscure actions and at least one random factor.
